3/17/2010 General Meeting

Speaker: Larry Savage, Center For International Enrollment, Wake County Schools

Topic: English As A Second Language (ESL) and Wake County Public Schools

Larry Savage currently serves as the Coordinator of the Center for International Enrollment with Wake County Public Schools. Larry has been working in the field of English as a second language (ESL) since completing his M.Ed. in 1995. In that time, he has worked at a university in the Czech Republic preparing initially licensed teachers to teach English in the Czech public schools, taught ESL at Sanderson and Apex High Schools, and directed the Diocese of Raleigh’s ESL program. Since 2007, he has worked in the ESL department at Central Office.

We will discuss the current state of ESL in Wake County and discuss Wake County's new Center for International Enrollment (CIE). Wake needs Realtors to help spread the word with international families moving to the area as to what is happening at the CIE and within Wake schools.
